Social media Twitter plans to charge users US$20 (RM94.63) a month for verification as part of an overhaul announced by tycoon Elon Musk.
The Verge media portal said today that the employees involved in the project were informed yesterday that they need to launch the feature by November 7 or they will lose their jobs.
Musk finalized the acquisition of Twitter with a purchase worth US$44 billion last Friday.
"The entire verification process is being overhauled," he said yesterday.
Verge added, the optional premium subscription now costs US$4.99 (RM23.60) per month. The new feature, called Twitter Blue, costs US$19.99 per month.
